Timeout!!

You pay a heavy price for reasoning with your kids each time.They remember the reasons and throw it back to you at the right time. With the mercury rising to 36 degrees  here, its too hot to go out to the park until evening. My daughter wanted to go to the park. I showed her the clock and told her it was 3.00 pm now and  we will go out when it was 6.00 pm. She very excitedly told  me ,"Wait I will show you the time on the ipad". She took the ipad  and started the stopwatch application and asked me "Mom what time do you want?" Well there was no point in telling her the time I wanted. Me-"Its so hot outside, if we go out now your head will become hot." Daughter - "Mom I will wear a cap, cap covers the head, so it will not be hot." Me - "You will become dark if you go out in the sun." Daughter - "No mom I will put sunscreen." Well I had run out of any more excuses, and as a last resort I told her we ar...

Rain rain muddy puddle again!!

Rain after a hot sunny day is such a relief. The fragrant smell of the mud when the earth cools down and the pleasant weather bring up childhood memories. The cloudy sky and the quiet, the quiet before the thunderstorm and then the torrential rain accompanied by the roaring thunder. The electricity would be gone and we used to huddle up in a blanket. Later on when it stopped raining we used to sail paper boats in the collected rainwater. So yesterday it rained here after a hot summer day. My daughter is scared of thunder, but after it stopped raining she wanted to go and play in the muddy puddles. So after many attempts of dissuading her from playing out she finally went to play. In the courtyard there was  a big muddy puddle created by the rainwater and she started walking and splashing happily in that.  Me - "Its dirty water don't play in that."
