The glass slipper!!

As kids start going to school, you can definitely see a huge difference in their perception, thinking and understanding. They might not now ask seemingly silly questions but of course their curiosity has not ebbed. Their questions are more meaningful and logical that you may not have an answer to them. Earlier it was easier to distract them but now its more difficult. My seven year old daughter had recently picked up her Cinderella fairy tale book. Next day she casually asked me. Daughter: "Mom, have you read Cindrella?" Me: "Yes." Daughter: "I had a question, The fairy godmother had told Cindrella that as the clock chimes 12.00 the magic will end and she has to be back." Me: "Yes that is right, and that is why she runs back when it is midnight." Daughter: "Yes so everything will turn back as it was at midnight, then why doesn't the glass slipper disappear?" Well that was a valid question, I had not thought of that. I was ...

I wanna be five...

So school is the next phase in the life of your 6 year old. And yes it is definitely a big change.New place, teachers, kids, everything new and yes definitely their reactions to all this are also really new. But its more amusing to listen to the reasons they come up of not going to school. Before the school started my daughter was like " I cant wait to go to school!!" After the first two days the novelty soon wore off and this changed. Daugter (crossly):  "I dont want to be six, I want to be five!!" Me: "But you are six, we just celebrated your birthday." Daughter (starting to cry) : "Its all your fault, you celebrated my birthday and now I am six year old and I want to be five." Me: " Ok we will not celebrate your next birthday and then you will remain six years old." Daughter: "No but I want to be five, its all your fault, you gave me food and now I am growing and I cant go to kindergarten.I dont want to go to school"...
